Barrie Home Sales Hit Another Record-Breaking Month in April
As in previous months, April 2017 continued to break records for home sales in the Barrie area, with detached residential home prices rising 36% compared to April 2016. There were 339 homes sold in Barrie at an average selling price of $556,353 (as of April 30, 2017). Last April, there were 243 homes sold at an average price of $408,641.
Mark Faris, CEO and Broker, Royal LePage First Contact Realty The Faris Team, Brokerage, believes that although sellers are at an advantage in today’s market, it is possible for buyers to succeed in their home ownership journey, they just need to be informed. “We are seeing a greater inventory of resale homes in all price rales, however, there is still a shortage of residential lots in the area. With an increase in the number of properties on the market, and a decrease in the number of buyers competing for homes, our Sales Partners have noticed a slight cooling of the market. I believe that in the coming months, there may be a great opportunity for buyers to take advantage of this cooling trend. Due to the recent implementation of the 15% Foreign Buyers Tax, there will be some buyers sitting on the sidelines waiting to see how it plays out. I personally believe, as many would agree, that even with the large percentage increase over last year, real estate is still the best place to invest your money.”
