Pure Springwater

Springwater Township is known for its beautiful scenery, pristine forests and sprawling farmland. It also lives up to its name as the home to the Elmvale Spring, a freshwater aquifer from which flows what experts believe may be the purest water in the world.

According to environmental geochemist Professor William Shotyk from the Institute of Earth Sciences at Heidelberg University in Germany, water from the Elmvale Spring contains “less lead than the cleanest ice layers from the Arctic”. This is due to the area’s unique geographic properties which act as a natural filtration process.  The water flows down through several layers of porous rock and sand from the Simcoe Uplands, passing through vegetation and chemically reactive soil that basically soaks up and captures toxic metals, contaminants and other impurities.  It then moves into the low lying fine grain sediment of the Elmvale Clay Plain which protects the water from contamination.  A perfect, natural design.

The result is clear, clean and cool fresh water that is second to none in its purity. Forget about high priced bottled artesian water imported from some exotic location, just grab a container, jump into your car and drive up highway 27 through Elmvale. Located on the east side of the road, just south of Flos Road 10 East, the Elmvale Spring flows freely and its municipally managed taps are open to the public at any time.

This free flowing natural purity is worth protecting for all to enjoy.  Join the citizens of Springwater and local groups that want to protect their natural treasure at the 8th annual Elmvale Water Festival, held in conjunction with the Elmvale Fall Fair this Thanksgiving weekend.  For more details see www.elmvale.org
