May long weekend is regarded by many as the kick off to summer, but it also marks the opening of many Farmers’ Markets in the region. Here’s where you can access the freshest local produce, artisan treats and creations across beautiful Simcoe County this weekend and all season long.

 

Alliston Farmers’ Market

 About: Fresh produce, meat, honey and other food items for sale in downtown Allison.

Location: Corner of Victoria and Mill St.

Hours: Saturdays, 8am-2pm, May long weekend to Thanksgiving

Barrie Farmers’ Market

About: Established in 1846, Barrie Farmers’ Market is older than Canada itself! Held on the premises of Barrie City Hall, an official Bill protects the City’s right to an acre of land and a Market House for the Barrie Farmers’ Market.

Bradford Farmers’ Market *opens May 28

 About: Featuring produce fresh picked from the Holland Marsh and other local farms, locally produced meats, eggs, preserves, honey and baked goods.

Burl’s Creek OK Friday Farmers’ Market

About: In collaboration with Southern Georgian Bay Farmers Markets, OK Friday is a true farmer’s market which offers a wide range of farm fresh produce and a variety of ready-to-eat items, alongside local bakeries, artisanal producers, and craft makers.

Midland Farmers’ & Artisan’s Market

About: An incredible collection of farmers and vendors who offer traditional and organic produce, fruits, vegetables, jams, herbs, crafted products, meats, baked goods, furniture, jewellery, sauces, honey, maple syrup, bedding plants, garden sculptures, recycled items, ceramics, skin care and so much more!

Stayner Music, Market and Park It *opens June 11
