Winterfest Recap

This past weekend, Barrie celebrated its annual Wintefest. Named one of the Top 100 Festival in Ontario, Winterfest is a great way to celebrate the winter season with exciting activities for the whole family. Despite the chilly weather, the sun was shining and there were hundreds of families out enjoying the festivities. This year’s Winterfest celebrated Canada’s 150th birthday with several Canadian themed events and activities, including intricately designed ice sculptures and snow sculptures representing all things. There were also maple taffy tastings, an ice maze, live music and entertainment, ice skating, a Polar Plunge and much more! Spectators witnessed amazing lumberjack shows throughout the weekend and participated in cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat bike demos. One of the highlights of this year’s event was The Toronto Kite Fliers giant kite shows that beautifully decorated the sky.  This was quite the sight to see!

In addition to the fun that took place throughout Heritage Park, there were also several other events taking place throughout the town, including the Barrie Jazz and Blues Festival and the Barrie Film Festival. Throughout Barrie’s Downtown core, residents could take a break from the cold by stopping into several participating locations along the Hot Cocoa Trail for a hot cup of specialty cocoa. We had a blast at Winterfest and are already looking forward to next year’s festivities!

Check out some of the fun that Faris Team Sales Representative John Facey-Crowther and his family had throughout the weekend!
