Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Simcoe County

On the 100th anniversary of the ceasefire that ended World War One, the community stands together to honour the fallen and to thank our local veterans for their selfless acts of bravery during the war.

Wasaga Beach

When: November 4, 10:45 am
Where: Wasaga Beach Town Hall
What Is It: Honour and remember our country’s heritage and those who fought for our freedom view viewing this commemorative parade to the local Cenotaph. Ceremonies will commence following the march.

Belle Ewart

When: November 4, 10:45 am
Where: 1017 Robinson St. Belle Ewart
What Is It: Begining at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 547, the community of Belle Ewart invites everyone to march in their annual Remembrance Day Parade leading up to their traditional service. Light refreshments with neighbours and fellow members of the legion will follow the service inside the Branch.

Barrie

When: November 11, 10:30 am
Where: Memorial Square, Barrie
What Is It: A commemorative parade to the Cenotaph at Barrie’s Memorial Square honours those who fought for our country’s freedom. Enjoy an open house at the Legion following the ceremony.

Alliston

When: November 11, 10:45 am
Where: New Cenotaph Alliston, at the corner of Albert and Paris Street
What Is It: Gather with Alliston to commemorate those who fought for our freedom with a traditional ceremony following by a wreath-laying. Following the event, enjoy a Remembrance Day dinner and cocktail held at the legion. Tickets are available at Branch 171 for $20.

Orillia

When: November 11, 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
Where: Orillia Public Library
What Is It: Join the community of Orillia in an interactive Remembrance Day exhibit featuring many artefacts from both world wars, and gain insight on the lives of 60 people who lived during the time of war.

When: November 11, 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Where: Royal Canadian Legion Cenotaph, Midland
What Is It: Gather with veterans and the community to pay respect to those who fought for our country.

Bradford East Gwillimbury

When: November 11, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Where: East Gwillimbury Civic Centre
What Is It: Centrally located for residents of Bradford and Gwillimbury, this traditional function invites you to honour your loved ones and the remainder of those who served us in the war.
