The Faris Team was the title sponsor of Hockey Night in Simcoe County 2017, which helped to raise over $250,000 in support of local charitable organizations. Faris Team Realtor®, Joel Faris, laced up alongside NHL alumni, celebrities, and local dignitaries, at the tenth annual Hockey Night in Simcoe County event. Hockey Night in Simcoe County supports Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Georgian Bay General Hospital, Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, and the Barrie Colts Foundation.

The Barrie Molson Centre was all abuzz as the fan favourites were called on to the ice. Today’s rising NHL superstars, Connor McDavid, Tanner Pearson, Kevin Leblanc and Andreas Aathanasiou were among them.  Mike Gartner and Dale Howerchuk were the team captains for the tenth annual Hockey Night in Simcoe County event. Gartner, a retired right winger, played 19 seasons in the NHL for the such teams as the Washington Capitals, Minnesota North Stars, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Phoenix Coyotes. Howerchuk, a centre, played 16 seasons in the NHL for the Winnipeg Jets, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues, and the Philadelphia Flyers.

For Joel Faris, playing against some of the biggest names in hockey was very humbling. “It was an amazing experience to be able to play with some of the best hockey players in the world. Connor McDavid makes the game look easy with his quick hands and fast speed!”

In the last nine years, Hockey Night in Simcoe County has raised over $1.8 million in support of local charities. Clearly, this event plays a vital role in helping to bring the best care to those who work, play, and live in the Simcoe County area. The funds from the 2017 event brings the 10-year total to over $2 million raised in support of these charitable organizations.

“This is the second year in a row that The Faris Team has been the title sponsor of this great event, and it truly is a blessing to be part of such a wonderful initiative which will help to support our local hospitals,” said Faris.
